I do like these lights a lot. Lithonia did make these lights with a polycarbonate refractor and door, called the TWP. From what I've noticed, they're far less common than the TWH, which is a good thing. Hubbell actually did make those medium sized rectangular wallpacks with a glass refractor and metal door, called the PGM. From what I've seen, they're unfortunately far less common the ones with the polycarbonate refractor and door, which was called the PVL3.

I have seen many of these lights. They were found a lot at schools, university campuses, offices, loading docks, commercial buildings, industrial buildings, hospitals, and some multifamily housing buildings back in the days prior to LED being the norm.

Now you need a 250 mercury version of this wall pac so you will have all three of them in your collection of those lights

Going to be making one of these myself. All of the parts are off the shelf, just need to combine different sized canopies like a Devo "energy dome" hat, and then the rest is straightforward. I really don't understand why these aren't made anymore, they're much better looking than the singles or doubles

I have three of these, but branded as ProLume. Unfortunately, one is EOL and the others are close to it.

That bulb would be good for a lamp in a hallway. It’s just bright enough so you can see at night but doesn’t use too much electricity.

That is very cool! Years ago, I thought I had the smallest CFL bulb. I guess not. I threw it out 12 years ago when we converted all the lighting in the house to LED. That one had 3 twists. And it was tiny. And wow, this one has only 2.

I purchased mercury vapor in 1980 I installed at my backyard 2024 still working 44 years same light bulb never replaced.

I recently pulled one of those GE appliance bulbs out of a fridge that someone was throwing away. Same 3+2 support C shaped filament as the one in the video. While I believe this is a common design, I was glad to pick it up because most of the appliance bulbs I have are 4+2 support C filaments.

How do you keep finding these old school awesome lights? Very difficult if not impossible to find in my area. About 4 years ago I got lucky and found a 70w high pressure sodium fixture in a trash can at the local HOA building where I used to work, this fixture was above the entrance of one of our local park restrooms which they replaced with an LED fixture. Took it home, wired it up and it still works. It’s not the round style you have here, but the square shaped style you usually see on the sides of commercial buildings. Someday maybe I’ll mount it on the outside of my house somewhere.

I love Mercury vapor It is a shame they stopped selling them I have seen people using these as porch lights right next to the door definitely comical

I love finding these area lights. The market is flooded with so many options with integrated LEDs and integrated photocells. These things are so versatile. Use it as intended, swap to a different ballast for another HID type, remove the ballast and convert to incandescent or LED. The modular design helps protect against obsolescence.

Love discovering old stuff that people have stored in the back of the garage or attic for many years and didn't realize they purchased it until they need to sell the house. When we were cleaning out my grandmother's house to prepare the estate sale after she passed 2 years ago, in the attic was a carbon tetrachloride and two soda acid fire extinguishers. Grandpa was the safety manager at the Detroit edison power plant where he worked at from 1953 - 1983 , and we think he may have brought them from the company because the extinguishers had a tag from Detroit Edison, I don't recall seeing a date though. But since these extinguishers were banned in the late 1960s, I would guess they date from between 1953 to 1968.

LED bulbs have gotten so good that no one uses CFLs anymore. Been that route years ago.
